Mumbai Indians middle batsman Suryakumar Yadav is out for the 2022 IPL after a left forearm muscle injury. He got injured during Mumbai's game against the Gujarat Titans on May 6 when he bat 11-13 balls in a five-round win for his team.

Suryakumar played 8 games for Mumbai India this season, recording 303 runs with a 43.29 average including 3 half centuries. Yadav had missed Mumbai's first two games against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals after recovering from a minor break while playing West Indies in India's T20I series in Kotkata in February this year.

“To my Mumbai Indian family, this time I will cheer for you from the other side. Let's end the tournament on a high note and show our true character on the pitch," he wrote this on his tweet. Their support from outside the bio bubble didn't help much as the Kolkata Knight Riders conquered the Mumbai Indians by 52 carries.

Yadav, popular with his fans as SKY, then went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for more than three weeks for improvement and readjustment from a gentle fracture before joining the Mumbai side in IPL 2022.

"With all your wishes and support, I'll be back in no time." Yadav said in a tweet on Monday.

This is the second time Suryakumar has been sidelined through injury in recent months. Before the start of the IPL, he spent his three weeks on recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after suffering a minor fracture of his thumb in the final match of the T20I series against the West Indies on February 22.

As a result, he was forced to miss the first week of the tournament, entering the Mumbai XI in only his third game of the season against the Knight Riders on April 6.

Suryakumar is now in a race to get fit as the five T20I India take on South Africa at home from 9 June with their sights set on the T20 World Championship later in the year.
